Doing our part to reduce plastic pollution
Ocean stewardship is an important fundamental of our core values.
For our 2010 festival we are striving to become a single use plastics free event.
We realize this will be no easy undertaking and that we may not be 100% perfect in this endeavor. But it is our intent to measurably reduce the "Single Use" and disposable plastics utilized by our festival.
Towards this goal we will.
- Look for areas of plastic use in our event that can be eliminated
- Identify non-polluting or otherwise non-toxic alternatives to single use plastics
- Encourage all festival partners & sub-contractors to eliminate single use plastics
- Utilizes environmentally responsible suppliers when ever possible
- Reduce our event's overall carbon & ecological footprint
- Increase awareness about plastic pollution
- Share our journey - both successes and failures - along with information on resources and strategies
- Work synergistically with pro-active organizations such as the Plastic Pollution Coalition
