Brooke Runnette

Brooke Runnette,
Director Of Development

Brooke Runnette is an Emmy- and Peabody Award-winning producer who is currently Executive Producer for Special Projects at Discovery Channel, including Shark Week.

Since she took it over and changed course, putting greater emphasis on natural history, Shark Week ratings have increased.  In 2010 under her direction, Shark Week was the highest rated in the history of the annual event, now going into its 25th year.  She has also led efforts within Discovery to work more closely with scientists and conservation organizations such as Oceana and the Pew Charitable Trust’s Global Shark Conservation group, and was the prime mover behind a major grant to Dr. Barbara Block of Stanford University for new tagging and tracking technologies in the Pacific Ocean, as well as another to Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute for innovations in camera-tracking technology.

Before joining Discovery, Runnette was a producer for at ABC News’ Nightlinel, Frontline, 60 Minutes II and for Peter Jennings at ABC News, among other places.  She lives in Washington DC with her husband and daughter.
