Submissions are invited for our global film competition.
Filmmakers, Researchers, Broadcasters, Conservation Organizations, Students and Amateurs with a passion for the oceans are invited to submit entries.
Films may be of any length, may originate in any format and be non-fictional, fictional or animated.
The "After" Date is January 1st, 2007 The submitted work need not have been broadcast or publicly exhibited.
All submissions are eligible for the Best of BLUE Award (Best of Festival)

BLUE: A Global Oceans Film Festival & Conservation Summit
After a highly acclaimed launch in 2009, BLUE is regarded as the
premier ocean film festival and multi-media event with outstanding
events for both the public and industry professionals and is building
on this momentum to create an even bigger and better event for 2010.

Coast's Monterey Bay Peninsula, BLUE is a fun-filled 5-Day festival
showcasing and honoring the world's finest ocean films and award
winning photography along with expert lead conservation seminars and an
in-depth industry conference that brings together esteemed
professionals from the realms of underwater filmmaking, wildlife
photography, marine sciences, ocean conservation, deep sea exploration,
television broadcasting & feature film distribution.
Filmmakers and festival goers get a chance to enjoy the best of ocean
films, photography, conservation, networking opportunities in one of
North America's most inspiring oceanfront destinations with activities
hosted in an intimate and hospitable environment.
BLUE celebrates, supports and nurtures the spirit of the independent
filmmaker and honors the accomplishments of the icons of the industry.
This year BLUE will pay special tribute to Jacques Yves Cousteau and
his pioneering underwater filmmaking legacy. 2010 would have been his
100th birthday.
BLUE supports this legacy and is dedicated to creating a catalytic
forum for the Marine Sciences and Underwater Filmmaking Industries to
come together to continue creating some of the most entertaining &
engaging documentary films of our time.
BLUE's agenda consists of:
1) International Film Competition: Honoring all genres of Ocean related
films. The best ocean films from around the globe are selected to be
screened and celebrated during the festival and recognized at the BLUE
Carpet Awards Ceremony.
2) Industry Conference: Offering a full slate of programs for
professional development. With seminars and hands-on skill building
workshops focused on underwater & ocean related filmmaking,
multi-media communications & excellence in nature photography.
3) Conservation Summit: World leaders in Ocean Issues & Solutions
head up a series of lectures & panels in conjunction with community
educational outreach programs
BLUE is already revered as a to be a "Not to Be Missed" event on the
film festival circuit and offers Ocean Lovers and Film Aficionados a
very special opportunity to interact with explorers, filmmakers,
scientists, artists, celebrities and conservation heroes from around
the world.

In addition BLUE Ocean Film Festival offers unique opportunities:
Emerging Filmmaker Program- Our Underwater 101 Track will provide special educational and inspirational workshops to help prepare the next generation of great ocean filmmakers. Both in the classroom and in the pool experiences are available.
Promoting the Filmmaker-Researcher Relationship- Underwater filmmakers and marine scientists share a unique bond dating back to the early films of Jacques Cousteau. It is through these synergistic relationships that we are able to intimately experience the wonders of the oceans and witness amazing journeys to unravel the mysteries within the depths. Marine researchers will be given insights into the filmmaking industry and tips on how to leverage film to promote their work and increase access to important scientific information about our oceans.
Traveling Festival-BLUE on Tour- After the festival ends the legacy continues. The award winning films will go on tour for screenings at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the 14 US National Marine Sanctuaries and various other locations globally.
