Discovery Channel's Brook Runnette on Making Conservation Fun to Learn

Posted: 5/20/2012

Discovery Channel’s Executive Producer and Director or Development, Brooke Runnette, will be speaking at BLUE’s Industry Conference on one of her favorite subjects: making conservation fun to learn. Perhaps the best way to share her perspective is to share a few quotes from the May 2012 article honoring her with a Green Award in the Washingtonian:

"Sharks put us in our place," says Brooke Runnette, executive producer of Discovery Channel's Shark Week. "There's something right with the world if something else is bigger than us in the food chain. The world is awesome--you fall back and get humbled…"

…"We're taking a risk that conservation-minded stuff that's fun will still rate with viewers." It's working: Ratings for the shows are higher than ever.

Runnette will also share insights on working with Discovery during a 30 Minutes With… session, and will take part in BLUE’s popular Speed Pitching.
