Every two years ocean leaders, filmmakers, photographers, scientists, explorers, entertainment executives – and the general public-- gather in Monterey at BLUE to honor the best n ocean filmmaking, to learn more about the issues facing our oceans, and to collaborate on improving the future of our oceans and humanity. The seven-day event is charged with energy as these diverse groups of people share knowledge and ideas with each other and with the general public.

The four elements that make up BLUE come together to create a truly unique event that:

  • Honors the world’s best ocean films through the best-in-class film competition.
  • Promotes the critical dialog between filmmakers and scientists, to inspire great films.
  • Connects ocean filmmakers with the latest technology, financing and distribution resources.
  • Engages & Empowers public audiences -- in Monterey and around the globe -- by Sharing the World’s Greatest Collection of Ocean Films.

BLUE’S 4 ELEMENTS

Global Ocean Film Festival
At the heart of the Monterey event is BLUE Ocean Film Festival, which screens over 100 finalist films and showcases stellar ocean photography. All events are open to the general public and industry delegates.
Fabulous parties encourage mingling with filmmakers, celebrities and industry executives in an intimate setting.

Industry Event
Filmmakers, photographers, scientists, leading media brands, and equipment manufacturers—come together for BLUE’s Industry Event—which promotes excellence in underwater imaging and storytelling. Unparalleled networking opportunities allow industry delegates to enhance their professional skills, explore groundbreaking technologies and learn about trendsetting media developments.

Conservation Summit
In venues small enough to foster connections, world-class speakers and panels impart the latest science, share insight, debate issues and challenge audiences to be proactive. For filmmakers and general public alike, these sessions have proven to be some of the most dramatic and inspiring moments at BLUE.

BLUE on Tour
BLUE on Tour makes this amazing collection of films, and cutting edge conservation programs, available to audiences around the world. Our goal is to reach communities and audiences that may not otherwise have access to these films and the stories they share. By broadening the reach of these films we hope to inspire greater awareness and action on behalf of our oceans.
